Bologna! Here we come!
Join us on Thursday, 13 November, 2025, at Archivio Avesella, for a presentation of 20 Seconds Issue 9: The Archive.
Archivio Avesella, located at the former Bologna headquarters of Il Manifesto and later of Lotta Continua, has been the social centre of leftist resistance in Bologna since the late 1960s.
Building on the archive’s contribution of Anti-Nuclear and Anti-Imperialist posters of the 1970s and 1980s, Archivio Avesella opens its doors to host 20 Seconds Magazine for an evening of discussions, screenings and interviews with the issue’s contributors.
Painter and artist Andrea Bolognino contributes a live visual performance.
wandering translators co-founder Rosa Coppola presents the malleable archive of poetry and translations from 20 Seconds Issue 9.
Filmmaker Dónal Foreman connects via Zoom from New York for an interview and introduction to his 2017 film “The Image You Missed.”
Film producer Flavia Mazzarino introduces Kamal Aljafari’s 2024 film “A Fidai Film,” which focuses on regaining the ownership of Palestinian film archives. Aljafari says, “I don’t believe in copyrights. I believe in liberation rights.”
The members of Archivio Avesella join 20 Seconds Editor-in-Chief Daniel Melfi for a discussion on the archive and their contribution related to the Anti-Nuclear and Anti-Imperialist struggles in Italy and beyond in the 1970s and 1980s.
Followed by collective aperitivo.
